The Windmill is from the David Winter Heart of England collection. Windmills were commonplace in England in the past, but most have now been converted or demolished. This particular type of windmill is known as a post mill; the upper section rotates to allow the sails to always face the wind.
The piece was introduced in 1988 and retired in 1995. It was held back from initial introduction while the sails were being perfected. They are made of cast metal and rotate on an axle embedded in the crystacal structure.
This 3.5” tall windmill comes in the original box with its certificate of authenticity.
